week of 11 Feb

Here's how the week went:

Mo - 6.15/9:11/143
Tu - 12.16/8:48/144
We - Rest -- blistered pinky toe
Th - Rest -- blistered pinky toe
Fr - 14.03/8:27/151
Sa - 6.13/8:54/150 (inflated by early bad HRM data)
Su - 19.5/9:30/141

Week: 58.0/9:00/145

Today was just odd. I didn't get out of bed until 9! (Even subtracting the time dealing with the dog, I still had to sleep 9 hours.) I finally got out the door at 10:30 knowing I wouldn't get home until probably 1:30 and that I hadn't eaten yet. I started jogging slowly as usual and let my body tell me when I was ready to run. Well, I just never felt like running. I felt like calling a cab three miles in, but I decided just to cover the distance. That didn't even quite work out. I hit the start/stop button at a stoplight while waiting for traffic and saw "timer started" -- oh, crap, how long was it off? I took a guess and shot for 20 miles, but after filling in the gap with google earth, I found the total was only 19.5. That's the way the day went. To continue the theme of leaving everything unfinished, my wife and I watched "Lost in Translation" this afternoon.

Good news on the pinky toe. It's getting back to its pasty white self and didn't really bother me that much during the run. It wasn't any worse when I finished than when I started.

What did you think of "Translation"? I actually think it's one of my favorite movies of the past ten years.

I liked it. The way every scene begins but never really closes (nobody ever says goodbye until the end) conveys a sense of moving without really going anywhere. All the movement is in their heads. There aren't any soliloquies.

I think you have to be in the right mood though and it's probably better the second time when you're not expecting something else. I guess I really haven't processed it yet.
