I ran with the Free's on Thursday and again on Friday, developing a blister. I just can't wear those things anymore until I get a bigger size.
Today's run was pretty good. I ran around 9:30 pace for probably 13 miles, then worked down to 8:30 where I stayed for the rest of the run. I have no idea how I'm ever going to run 7:27 at the end of the race. My last 1.5 miles was 8:35 pace average 181 bpm! (My avg marathon heart rate is 172.) Still, something magic happens on race day. Last spring I'd averaged 9:07 per mile and 149 bpm on my last 20-mile long runs and ran 80 secs/mile faster on race day. It looks like I'm in about the same shape now. If I can just shed that extra weight...
Speaking of quickly shedding some pounds. Don't ever eat chili right after a long run. "Honey, do you want me to heat you up some chili?" "Sure." Not a good idea. Kids, don't do it. I'm not quite sure how to enter 1 cup of chili digested for 1.5 hours into the sparkpeople calorie log. Do I get a pro-rated rate?
Pretty good week. I think that's the most I've ever run in 6 sessions.
